Fresh Peach Shake A Fresh Peach Shake is my favorite way to eat a peach! I went peach picking last week. Here in Oregon that usually doesn’t happen until mid August and into September but because of a really hot May the peaches are ready a month or so early! I picked Veterans and Canadian Harmony. I’m not a peach expert so I’m really not sure what the difference is but that is what they were picking that day at the peach orchard. I know that Veterans are a favorite among canners and years ago, when I use to can, we always used Veterans for our canned peaches. Even though I don’t can anymore I still like to pick peaches so I can make lots of yummy peach desserts including today’s, Fresh Peach Shakes. Whenever I go to Utah to visit in August I always have to make a trip or two or three to Taco Amigo, a local taco joint, for a fresh peach shake. Utah has great peaches too and you can only get a fresh peach shake at Taco Amigo for about one month out of the year. I have been known to plan my trips to Utah around fresh peach shake season! But no more. Now I can make them at home!! For a large single serving shake I used a peach and a half – just eat the other half or dice it and add into shake after it is blended if you like chunks in your shake (I don’t). Also, some vanilla ice cream (buy a good quality ice cream, no cheap stuff), vanilla, milk and a touch of sugar. Just pop it in the blender and pulse a few times. Pour it into a glass, add a straw and enjoy! Of course topping it with some whipped cream and a cherry makes everything better. Fresh Peach Shake Print Prep time 10 mins Total time 10 mins Author: Leigh Anne Wilkes Recipe type: Dessert Serves: 1 large shake Ingredients 2 cups vanilla ice cream ½ cup whole milk 1½ large peaches, peeled and sliced. Dice the remaining half and add into blended shake if you like chunks in your shake. 1 Tbsp sugar ½ tsp vanilla whipped cream cherry Instructions In a blender combine all ingredients except for ½ diced peach. Blend until smooth. Add in diced peach if desired. Top with whipped cream and cherry 3.5.3208 Author information Leigh Anne Hi – I’m Leigh Anne! Marshmallow Rice Krispie Treat Ice Cream Marshmallow Rice Krispie Treat Ice Cream is a favorite treat in ice cream form! Last week I mentioned I had been on a bit of an ice cream making binge this summer when I shared that yummy Nutella Crunch Ice Cream. Well, the binge continues and I’ve got a bit of a theme going here with using cereal in ice cream. I mean, it makes perfect sense doesn’t it? Ice Cream is mainly milk and milk and cereal go together. When I travel, I always like to check out the local ice cream scene and find the city’s best ice cream. I first discovered marshmallow rice krispie treat ice cream while visiting my daughter in New York and fell in love with the idea. The ice cream place didn’t actually even have that flavor ice cream the night I was there but it was one of the flavors they usually offered. I just couldn’t get the idea out of my head so I decided to try my hand at it at home. I used my favorite vanilla ice cream base and swirled some marshmallow fluff through it. I then mixed in chopped up rice krispie treats using my Perfect Rice Krispie Treat recipe. I only have three words to describe this ice cream – OH MY GOSH! Yes, it is that good. In fact, it is the kind of ice cream you hide in the back of the freezer so you don’t have to share it. I have no idea how it compares to the one in NYC but this one is amazing! So are you drooling over the ice cream or that vintage ice cream scoop!? Mine is an actual antique but my friend Kristi over Barn Owl Primitives has some just like it in her shop so be sure and check them out. I love mine! I like a bit of chew or texture in my ice cream and the rice krispie treats provide just the perfect chewiness. They hold up well in the ice cream too and don’t get all mushy. Now grab yourself a spoon and dig in!! You don’t have to share if you don’t want to! Marshmallow Rice Krispie Treat Ice Cream Print Prep time 20 mins Cook time 30 mins Total time 50 mins Author: Leigh Anne Wilkes Recipe type: Dessert Serves: 1½ qt Ingredients 1 batch of vanilla ice cream base 1 7 oz. jar of Marshmallow fluff 2 cups cubed Rice Krispie treats Instructions Mix together ice cream and process according to directions. After ice cream has processed, fold in marshmallow fluff and rice krispie treats. Stir to combine. Place in freezer to harden. 3.5.3208 Author information Leigh Anne Hi – I’m Leigh Anne!
